About
Our Mission Statement
The Assiniboine Chapter, through good leadership, education, competition, discipline and dedication, strives toward excellence and enjoyment in singing four-part harmony, Barbershop Style.
Land Acknowledgement
Assiniboine Chorus rehearses and performs in Winnipeg located within Treaty No. 1 Territory, the traditional lands of the Anishinabe (Ojibway), Ininew (Cree), Oji-Cree, Dene, and Dakota, and is the Birthplace of the Métis Nation and the Heart of the Métis Nation Homeland.
Performance
The main purpose of Assiniboine Chorus is to get out and sing for our community. We sing at annual shows, and a number of community events throughout Winnipeg and southern Manitoba. We are available to sing at your next function or event.
If you're looking for a unique musical experience to liven up your event, please check out our Book Us section.
Education
In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of a cappella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals and a very important component of the chorus experience. A couple of times a year, we receive coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop music where we hone our skills and learn many fabulous tricks of the trade.
Our Quartets
Many choruses have a number of members who form their own vocal quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. Take a look at "Our Quartets" section and get to know a little more about them. These quartets are for hire if you are looking for a smaller group to entertain at your gathering.
Friends of our Chorus
Some of our members not only sing with our Chorus, but form part of other Barbershop quartets and/or a cappella groups. These groups can be found in "Friends of our Chorus".
